Ashton is an E.P of acoustic guitar music recorded by Andrew Johnston and Ivan Klipstein, almost as an afterthought to the sessions for 2008's "Leader's Factory." Although this collection of songs may have come about quite haphazardly, the E.P hangs together as a strong collection of softly picked folk. Recorded at a time when Andrew was busy backing up J.F Robitaille for shows throughout Canada, the album reveals Andrew to be a gifted acoustic guitar player who has clearly absorbed the canon according to Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce and Ryan Adams. The inclusion of a variety of songs appearing on other Andrew Johnston albums (the Mantra, Big Blue Apple, National Geographic), reveals the songs in a new light, and adds depth to their interpretation.
