about

Andrew Johnston's rough and ready, live off the floor collaboration with the now sadly defunct Ideal Lovers. A combustible meeting of one of Montreal's most versatile songwriters with some of the best pickers in town. Joe Grass's jaw dropping pedal steel lines mesh with hot country pickin from Mike O'Brien (Sin and the Swoon), while Zach Decamp and David Payet (Vic Chesnutt) keep things well grounded. Imagined as a kind of homage to Neil Young's "Tonight's the Night," Andrew Johnston vs. the Ideal lovers is the kind of unadorned, alt country that fans of Ryan Adams' "Jacksonville City Nights" will want to eat right up.
